Resort Wi-Fi
Most resorts include Wi-Fi as standard across restaurants, common areas and rooms — though a number of higher-end overwater villa categories still price it as a premium add-on, which is worth checking at booking rather than discovering at checkout.
Local SIM cards
Both of the Maldives' main carriers, Dhiraagu and Ooredoo, sell tourist SIM/data packages from counters in the Velana International Airport arrivals hall — a straightforward way to get independent data for the length of your trip, useful if you're island-hopping or staying somewhere with limited resort Wi-Fi.
Where coverage drops
Mobile coverage is generally solid on inhabited and resort islands but can drop out entirely on open water between atolls — worth knowing if you're relying on a phone for navigation or messaging during a longer speedboat transfer or liveaboard leg.
