Spa & wellness

Spa and wellness is one of the areas where the Maldives' setting does a lot of the work for you — an overwater treatment room with glass panels onto the lagoon is a genuinely different experience to an equivalent treatment room anywhere else.

What's typically on offer

Most resorts run a spa built around massage and body treatments, often with at least one dedicated overwater pavilion, plus a yoga or meditation deck used for both scheduled classes and private sessions. Some resorts pair this with more specific wellness programming — sleep-focused stays, detox menus, guided breathwork — as a point of differentiation.

Booking around sunset

Treatments timed around sunset are consistently the most requested slots at resorts with west-facing spa pavilions — worth booking early in your stay rather than leaving it to a day or two before departure.

Budgeting for it

Spa treatments are billed separately from any half-board or full-board package and carry both Tourism GST and the standard service charge on top of the treatment price — see our green tax & resort taxes explainer for how those add up across a stay.
